The reason for employees to recognize others is to support their team and to reinforce the desired company experience.
The purpose of points (and associated gift cards if your company is using them) is not to cause you to participate, but to remind you to participate and to make participation fun and exciting—it is not supposed to feel like an obligation or one more item on your list of tasks.
If your company is using gift cards, you will be able to use your points as a special reward to reinforce the impact you have on the brand/core values.
How points are distributed
Point distribution is customized based on your company's program specifications. Generally, points are assigned to activities in the program. When a user completes an activity, a predefined number of points is added to his or her profile.
For example, your company may decide to give 3 points every time a user writes a comment, 1 point every time a user likes a post, and 15 points every time someone writes a recognition.
Points are an indicator of participation in the program. Users who frequently utilize the program will have a greater number of points, making the total number an easy data point managers and leaders can use to gauge engagement.
Access Points page
Check your points balance by clicking on the User icon on the menu bar.
This will open a drop-down window. Select Points to navigate to the Points page.
You can also access the Points page from Your Profile by clicking on the number under your profile picture. Companies who are using the gift card feature of the platform will display two numbers for points on the Profile page. These numbers indicate the Lifetime points and the points left for redeeming gift cards. Points do not expire, but the number of redeemable points will decrease as they are used to purchase gift cards. What happens to a user's points if they are terminated or leave the company is determined based on the company's specifications. (Reach out to your Program Administrator for further information.)
The Points page has a summary of your point accumulation including the date the points were earned (or redeemed, as applicable), the type of activity completed, and the point value of the activity.
You can click on an individual activity to navigate to the post. Clicking the How do I earn points? opens a pop-up window that details the point distribution for your company.
If your company is using the gift card feature of the program, a certain number of points will equal money toward an electronic gift card (these are called Redeemable Points). After accumulating a minimum amount, you will be able to trade in your points for gift cards from select retailers or donate as a gift to select charitable organizations.
